Clinic Information
Pharmaceuticals
According to FDA regulations, our veterinarians must first examine your pet before prescribing any medications. There must be a doctor-client-patient relationship. Yearly examinations are required for most prescription medications refills. Some conditions need regular monitoring and/or testing prior to additional medication refills so the doctors will require that information before refilling those medications. Refills should be called in 48 hours in advance and are only held on the shelves for 10 days after being filled.
Emergencies
During working hours we never turn away a sick or injured pet. If your pet requires immediate attention, our doctors and staff must stop all scheduled appointments to attend to the emergency; you will be charged accordingly. After regular office hours our doctors are on emergency call for established clients only. All emergency fees are due at the time of service. If you have an emergency outside the established hours, we recommend you take your pet emergency to VCA Asher on Hilltop Drive in Redding.
Appointments
Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30 until 5:30, with an occasional short staff training break. We ask that clients respect our time in order for us to respect theirs. Please arrive on time and allow 30-60 minutes for an appointment. Some examinations take longer than others so if you state the reason for the exam we will be able to judge the appropriate time needed to properly evaluate your pet’s problem. Complicated problems or procedures may require more time. We do have (Registered Veterinary Technician) RVT appointments for some of those routine procedures when you do not need to see a doctor. Those appointments usually run about 15 minutes. If you are a new client, please come in 10 minutes early to fill out paper work.
Arrival at our office
Please make sure your dog is on a leash. If you forgot one, that’s okay as we have some leashes available in our lobby for your convenience. We recommend that small dogs, cats and other small animals be kept in carriers or sturdy containers. You should be prepared to encounter other animals when coming into the lobby. Please do not leave your carrier, leash or other personal item when leaving your pet. We focus all of our attention on your pet’s medical needs and cannot be responsible of personal items.

Safe Entry
Please have all dogs on leashes and have all cats or small animals in their carriers.

Un-Safe Entry
Please have all dogs on leashes and have all cats or small animals in their carriers.
Payments
We do understand that you cannot plan for emergencies, but we would be unable to continue to provide service without payment, therefore all payments are due at the time of service. We take all forms of payments: cash, personal checks and all major credit cards. However at this time we do not offer CareCredit.
